Psychometric Assessment
Psychometric Assessment is a modern method of evaluating a person’s psychological and mental qualities and the way they fit into the labor market. There are many factors that come into play when you apply for a job, one of which is your ability to acquire the knowledge and skills required to perform well. One of the many tools that a Psychometric Assessment Company can use to determine your suitability to the position is a questionnaire designed to gather information on your personality, cognitive processes and personality characteristics. These factors are then combined with statistics and mathematical algorithms to determine whether you possess the skills and qualities employers are looking for.
Many personality tests use several different areas of varying importance to rate the level of each variable. When rating personality the scale is used is called the Psychometric Index (PI). This rating scale has been found to be extremely accurate in predicting job performance and is often used in conjunction with other measures of personality to predict who would make a good employee, and who would not. Because the PI scale is highly reliable, it has been used as a standard by which Psychometric Assessment is measured.
Psychometric Assessment is different from aptitude tests in that aptitude tests are normally descriptive and attempt to measure how well a person performs on one particular task. Psychometric tests on the other hand measure the person’s ability to learn, use and analyze information and their general abilities. For example, a Psychometric Assessment test may ask the person to complete a specific task or even map out a new process without any instructions. The person is then asked to describe how they completed the task and to provide a numerical answer based on how they understood the task. In this case it is fair to say that Psychometric Assessment is a more accurate method to judge a person’s personality and abilities.
