It’s Easier To Wear A Mask Than A Ventilator
It is easier to wear a mask than a ventilator in some cases. It seems that when people are already comatose or respiratory arrest has happened, they may be at greater risk for developing COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). It’s also been found that people who have had a lung transplant and people with severe allergies are more likely to have COPD. Of course, the difference between breathing through a tube versus breathing through a mask is slight, but it is enough of a difference to consider.
How can this be? Well, in a nutshell, we use a tube in order to breathe through a tube. That is not such a bad idea if we are in a dust storm or up in a high place, where oxygen is more critical than anything else. In fact, if you look back over your childhood and high school years, you will find that many of the asthma attacks occurred during the summer months when the pollen count was at its highest. We were more vulnerable to the cold and the dry air than we are now.
So now we want to be healthy and we want to stay healthy. It is not possible to do that without living a very active lifestyle. It’s much easier to smoke cigarettes and be alive without having to deal with the side effects of being a smoker. However, when you are dealing with COPD, you need to be alive, and living an active lifestyle is the best way to be able to deal with the disease.
When you use a mask to be able to breathe through, you are going to be making yourself breathe through your mouth. The problem with that is that the gag reflex is still present and you will be taking in a lot of bacteria by forcing your lips to move. You won’t be able to breath through your mouth and you will be taking in quite a bit of carbon dioxide, which will cause you to be alive. You want to avoid this. Instead, you will want to breathe through your nose.
A good mask will be designed with vents where your cheeks and nose can be. These vents should be kept open while you sleep because they allow for air to come in and out and oxygen to be extracted. It is important that they are open at all times so that you will not be suffocated.
Ventilators work by pushing the air in and pushing out. This is why they are called “Ventilators” and not “Use Ventilators”. They simply give you more time to breathe and recover. When you are worn out from a day of active smoking or whatever you are doing, there is nothing more that you need than some extra rest. It’s not possible to use a nicotine patch if you are wearing one and it doesn’t help your recovery.
